Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?

I had a very, very Phillip K Dick moment today. I was sitting in a diner having breakfast and there was a young family at the table in my field of vision in front of me. The little girl had a bag with her down by her feet. After a few moments of eating I noticed movement in the area of the bag. I looked down to see a white cat half protruding from the bag. I met eyes with this cute little animal and had a bit of a 'moment'. After looking at the cat for a little while longer I figured out that it was not real but a very good imitation of a kitty. I sat and made eye contact and felt as though I had an exchange with another living creature when in fact it was with a mechanical/ electrical entity.

Horse Sense

I watched Jerry Seinfeld's 'I'm Telling You For The Last TIme' taped comedy routine last night. He does his usual, Did you ever notice? What's the deal with this...? Who ARE these people? And you kind of giggle along. He did one bit that really got me. He talked about how he went to the track not long ago with some of his friends, how he doesn't know what he's doing at the horse races, he just places a bet on something and sits down and cheers while he watches. Then he starts in on how it would be a very different race if the horses knew that if they fell and injured themselves they would get their brains blown out. Seinfeld pretends he's a horse running down the track, looking around, making sure no other horses come too close to him, going, 'Take it easy! Take it easy! You place. I'll show. Whatever! Nothing's more important than your health.' For some reason that set me off laughing my ass off.

The woman whose phone number I found while cleaning my apartment is in fact a Japanese national. She is in Vancouver on the premise of studying English at one of the Visa factories that operate around this gorgeous town. She unfortunately can't put four words of English together in a row. I no longer have it in me to be able to sit through that unless I'm getting paid for it.
