Irish-Canadian
Canada's federal government has opened the door to apology and compensation to various groups who were wronged by the government in the past. Great-grandchildren of Chinese-Canadians who were screwed and tattooed by the government when they first arrived here are being compensated this way. The Irish who first arrived in British North America had it just as bad. In Britain at the time they were passing legislation in their parliament to starve the Irish out of existence. Imagine that. A parliament passing into law, legislation to starve their better looking neighbours to death. The relations continued in North America with written documentation of exploitative and preferential treatment to be given to British over the Irish. Land distribution is the most obvious example of this. There are many more. They wrote it down. I want compensation for the wrongs my ancestors endured while building this great nation. I want my money and I want it now.
