'Very Chevy, very dirty.'
I've been hanging out with some Chinese women since I arrived back in Van. Rose and Sarah live together. Rose told me she is divorced. Sarah informed me Rose is still married to a wealthy fellow who still handles their considerable business interests in China. Rose likes her blue eyed boys. Sarah brought one over the other evening. Sarah went out of town for the weekend. When she got back home Rose and Sarah's former friend were an item. Rose recently broke up with a guy. Rose got pregnant by this guy while her husband was in China. Rose has a son with her current husband. The guy here wanted to marry Rose and raise the child. She refused and terminated. He proceeded to break off the relationship and tell Rose that he too was married to a woman in the Phillipines for the last year. So there. Lovely, lovely bunch of people. 'I'll... be... over... here...'
Sarah is looking for a car. When she wants to be critical of a car she says it's, 'very Chevy, very dirty' with great disdain in her voice. She is just shopping for a dirty Chevy, she says, nothing expensive. Don't know why I found that funny. Sarah is a very decent woman unlike some of the people she is associating with. Her life was very interesting. She was in a Chinese airport with her daughter years ago. She was in the process of buying a ticket to Toronto. Someone from Canada in line behind her suggested she try Vancouver as it is a much better city. So Sarah changed her ticket to Vancouver and moved here with her daughter instead. Just on a whim at the airport like that. Good choice.
