Theurgy

While walking recently I heard what sounded like someone in distress. I rushed around a corner to see a group of people, 4 females and a male, engaged in some form of devout Christian worship. At the top of their lungs. Another person close by explained to me that the people were Koreans who gather at that spot every Sunday morning to speak in tongues. They did this neat sort of Stevie Wonder thing, swaying their heads back and forth with their eyes closed and clapping a bit every few minutes, while the person who was in the zone with the almighty seemed to rage on. God apparently speaks Korean.
This got me to researching. We all know of demonic possession. Check out East Vancouver a few days before Welfare Wednesday. You will believe. But what about Angelic possession? Makes sense that it would also happen. So I got to researching. I googled across a theory that what we regard as Satan is an extra terrestrial life form that came to earth and altered the DNA of apes for some purpose of it's own. How's that for a movie plot? Then I get the idea of a guy who is approached by police claiming that his DNA matched to 18 zeros a sample from a murder scene that happened before he was born. He's all, 'WTF?' Enter the gorgeous detective to sort it all out. Would (will) make a hell of a movie...
All that started from me stumbling on Christian Koreans speaking in tongues one Sunday morning in a mall.

Kafka

I have just discovered the writings of Franz Kafka. Heard the name and the term Kafkaesque before. Never knew what it meant. The man was absolutely brilliant. He never actually finished any of his three novels either. Slacker.

Just finished reading 'Hannibal Rising.' It is a movie written as a novel. Still not bad. We are introduced to the childhood traumas that created the monster who eventually has a friend for dinner, Clarice... 'Romeo and Juliet' is next up after I finish with Kafka. I found a really great used bookstore here in good old Vancouver.

Irish-Canadian

Canada's federal government has opened the door to apology and compensation to various groups who were wronged by the government in the past. Great-grandchildren of Chinese-Canadians who were screwed and tattooed by the government when they first arrived here are being compensated this way. The Irish who first arrived in British North America had it just as bad. In Britain at the time they were passing legislation in their parliament to starve the Irish out of existence. Imagine that. A parliament passing into law, legislation to starve their better looking neighbours to death. The relations continued in North America with written documentation of exploitative and preferential treatment to be given to British over the Irish. Land distribution is the most obvious example of this. There are many more. They wrote it down. I want compensation for the wrongs my ancestors endured while building this great nation. I want my money and I want it now.

Abdul's Sandwiches

At Wreck Beach in Vancouver on a sunny Sunday you will find many people from all walks of life, strolling around completely nude while enjoying their day. It is a very mellow place where almost anything goes. I try to sit upwind when I visit this particular beach as the smell of pot smoke is usually wafting in from somewhere. There is a fellow named Abdul who sells the best veggie and cheese sandwiches I have ever eaten in my life. He prepares and serves the meal completely nude of course. You line up and chat with people wearing nothing at all as the group waits for Abdul to work his magic. It was a first for me. Vancouver.
