Prince George, BC

Currently up in Prince George, BC. The drive up here from Vancouver has some absolutely stunning vistas. Not sure where I'm supposed to end up after here. The eventual destination is supposed to be Toronto in about a week. Then back West.

Kamloops

Spennding an evening in bustling Kamloops, BC. On my way back to Vancouver from Calgary. Drove into a lightning storm late last night. Every few minutes the sky would light up and show me a mountain range right in front of me. Great visuals. Feels like the Gods are putting on a show just for you. Drove the BC/ Alberta border, and around the Banff area just as the sun came up this morning. Beautiful mountian mist effect. This is nice country out here. Supposed to be in Toronto later in the week then back home West.

Island Way

I have been on Vancouver Island for the last little while. Am forced to return to Vancouver on Wednesday due to employment obligations. It's better over here than on the mainland. Life is better here. I spent the better part of the day today with a group of guys, one of whom had the phrase 'Overworked and Underfucked' in bold letters on his t-shirt. Very funny guy. I am the stressed out Easterner to them. Things move a little slower here.

Web Site Progress

I have the idea/ concept for a web site I want to develop. I don't have anywhere near the web design skills necessary to do this and do it well. I have farted around with Dreamweaver but I would like this site to be very professional, not a hobby. I have chosen a web design place here in Van that are pretty cheap yet have some very impressive work in their portfolio. I have the look and feel I want worked out on paper. I have outlined what the site is all about. I have several other sites as examples of the colour patterns I like. The creative is essentially done. My site will feature double blind communication between users. Most of the site manintenance is self-propogating. I am asking the design place and one of their clients to refer me to the lawyer they used to resolve any ownership issues regarding the site before we actually get together. I will have a contract drawn up for all parties indicating that I own the GUI/ look and feel/ specific double blind aspects to my little project. I shall own the very code. Even looking into which business structure is best; sole proprietorship, ltd partnership, or incorporate. If I incorporate it would just be provincially and not federally. You need a staff member just to handle the paperwork to incorporate on the federal level. I'll send you a t-shirt with 'My Web Site Name.com' on it once I get this fucker off the ground. I'm doing this if it's the last thing I do. The process of it isn't rocket science. It's just the small matter of the money necessary. Details.

While walking home the other night an owl flew up and landed on a short lamp post I was walking past. I briefly pondered it's beauty then kept walking. That got me curious about the mythology of owl sightings. It can be good or bad depending on your culture. Some see an owl sighting as a conduit to the psychic world. Already got it, thanks. Others think seeing an owl means someone in your life will die. Those crazy Cajuns think you have to turn your left shoe around backwards when you see an owl. Can't remember why. There are a lot of witchcraft elements to an owl sighting. Wicca witchcraft, not the evil female terror figure on a broom nonsense. I was just hoping he wouldn't fly over and peck me in the bald spot as I was walking away from him.

Really Free

You could be
Just like me
Really free

Run around
Off the ground
Lost and found

You can be
Just like me
Really free

Got to go
With the flow
Then you know

You could be
Just like me
Really free

Let us all
Take the call
Have a ball

You can be
Just like me
Really free

Really free

Or some such. Wrote that in a coffee shop while waiting for crazy Sarah to show up. 'Bet U2 are shittin' themselves.' (The Commitments) Sarah and I watched the sun set this evening in a very beautiful spot on a beach out by UBC. Will post two photos from it shortly. Will post the lyrics for 'Echo Highway' when I get them somewhere decent. I was half strung out from fatigue when I jotted them down. They don't really work. Also putting final touches on one called 'The Town Clown'.

'Very Chevy, very dirty.'

I've been hanging out with some Chinese women since I arrived back in Van. Rose and Sarah live together. Rose told me she is divorced. Sarah informed me Rose is still married to a wealthy fellow who still handles their considerable business interests in China. Rose likes her blue eyed boys. Sarah brought one over the other evening. Sarah went out of town for the weekend. When she got back home Rose and Sarah's former friend were an item. Rose recently broke up with a guy. Rose got pregnant by this guy while her husband was in China. Rose has a son with her current husband. The guy here wanted to marry Rose and raise the child. She refused and terminated. He proceeded to break off the relationship and tell Rose that he too was married to a woman in the Phillipines for the last year. So there. Lovely, lovely bunch of people. 'I'll... be... over... here...'
Sarah is looking for a car. When she wants to be critical of a car she says it's, 'very Chevy, very dirty' with great disdain in her voice. She is just shopping for a dirty Chevy, she says, nothing expensive. Don't know why I found that funny. Sarah is a very decent woman unlike some of the people she is associating with. Her life was very interesting. She was in a Chinese airport with her daughter years ago. She was in the process of buying a ticket to Toronto. Someone from Canada in line behind her suggested she try Vancouver as it is a much better city. So Sarah changed her ticket to Vancouver and moved here with her daughter instead. Just on a whim at the airport like that. Good choice.
