Day 4

Hit the mountain again today. Briefly. The snow was the best I have ever experienced. I could only do one run from peak to base before I shut things down. The longest run at here Whistler is 11 km long. I still don't have the thighs to go two full days in a row. Maybe next week.

Tonight's meal was chicken teriyaki stir fry. First use of corn starch. I always thought corn starch was a liquid, like a molasses variant or something.

Day 3

Enjoyed another ski day today. A little crowded but I was able to find some quiet spots and eek out some powder. I could feel the snow shushing past my kneecaps for brief periods. Perfect depth. Christmas crowds made the lifts up a little slower process than usual. I sleep a sleep like no other after a full day on the hill. I am DONE for at least an hour, maybe three. Then I wake up and eat everything that isn't nailed down in my apartment and go about my business. Going up again tomorrow.

Day 2

Second ski day on the hills today. I may file a complaint with Mountain Operations up here. Excessive powder kept impeding my forward progress. I don't have the thighs yet to do much of the deep stuff anyway.

20 cm Rule

Whistler has an unofficial rule for some locals. If 20 cm of snow is forecast so is calling in sick to work that day so you can ski or board. I heard someone ask a local high school kid if they apply the rule to school as well. The kid replied, 'Dude, the teachers call in sick.' I got up on the hill today for a few hours. Wet conditions but glorious to be at it again for the first time this year. The forecast for the upper elevations of the mountain calls for 20cm per day of snow through Saturday. So, that would be a 100 cm rule this week I guess. I can't get back out until next week due to some very inconvenient employment obligations.
