Sweet Dream

Weirdest dream last night. I'm watching a TV interview take place, but I'm also operating the camera. Sort of a dual-perspective dream. Behind the male reporter in the camera viewfinder, and then in a wider view as a third person observer, something dark is approaching. The reporter reports, 'Never before captured on video, ladies and gentlemen, behind me you can clearly see that we are in fact in the path of a CHOCOLATE tornado.' The low sound of something approaching. My spider senses start to tingle, in the dream. Just before we are engulfed by the approaching entity the reporter says, 'Here we go. See you on the other side.' I watch as he is engulfed by a large mass of swirling chocolate. I am engulfed as well. I hear gurgling, and swirling, then a moment later the tornado passes. The reporter stands in front of me covered from head to toe in chocolate. I wipe chocolate from the camera lens to get a clear shot. He is chewing chocolate as he speaks, 'Did I tell you? Did I tell you?' I am chewing chocolate as well, causing the camera to move slightly as I attempt to record this bizarre interview. I move the cam up and down to indicate a yes nod to the viewers. 'Three words,' I say. 'Dee. Li. Cious.' And then I wake up.

I may get back to the writing again soon.

Multicultural Weekend

Left Whistler on Saturday morning for Vancouver. Spent a bit of time on Wreck Beach. Many stoned, nude revellers playing tunes and singing away the day on the beach. Dinner with Pei from Taiwan at a Thai restaurant that evening. Sunday morning went to a Chinese Buddhist temple at 49th and Fraser St. Watched monks and others chant and drum in unison with incense in the air. They have a copy of the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms, Canadian Bill of Rights, and a Canadian flag prominently displayed in the temple. Freedom of worship. Sunday afternoon coffee with Korean Hyun, then a walk up and down a Commercial drive closed to vehicular traffic. Lost count of how many languages I heard. Folk Fest for an hour after that. Outside the gate. Costs a fortune to get into that thing. Great tunes though. An African group was playing while we were there. Hyun is a classically trained pianist. Say that ten times fast. We went into her studio where she works after hours and she put on a brilliant private show for me. She knew every tune I could come up with. I ended up laying across her piano wearing Hyun's red dress with a cigarette going, singing 'All Of Me' while she belted out the piano tunes. All but last line are true.

Web Design By Barter

I am in the process of designing a web site for a woman. She owns a campground with cabins in a very beautiful, very remote area of BC. I put together a site for her in exchange for essentially unlimited access to her facility throughout the summer. It feels very odd for me to be having one of the best summers of my life after recent events. I have been able to travel extensively. I have met some of the most interesting people I've known in a very long time. Sometimes not good interesting but interesting nonetheless. Was able to surf several times and am doing so again in a few weeks. Surfing rivals skiing for enjoyment factor. And I have just earned my first official revenue from 4 Keys Media Inc. after what seemed like a comedy of errors in my first real attempt at being in business in any way. A client wrote me a cheque. I forgot to put my name on the first batch of business cards I printed up. After about eight people in a row pointed this out to me I have started telling people it's a team effort so 'we' don't specify on the cards who you should call. I had 500 of the damned things printed. Have to go back to the place and get them done again. The design on the cards needs work anyway.

Pin Pin

Had dinner this evening in a Phillipino restaurant here in Vancouver called Pin Pin. Great food for very cheap. My Phillipino language skills are coming along nicely. Afterwards we went down to the beach on UBC campus. It was high tide. The area of the beach where we went was more gravel rocks than sand. Every time a wave came in and receded you could hear the gentle sound of rocks rolling against each other as the sun set in a line on the ocean directly in front of you. Never heard that sound before.

Found Beauty

I have driven by this place called Nairn Falls countless times. Always planned to go and see what exactly was up there. It is an absolutely gorgeous spot. Barely anyone there even on an American holiday. The hike from one end to the other is only 1.5 km. I took a nap in the sun by the water at the spot I took the middle photo. Not a bad Saturday.
