New Blog

I am in the process of designing a new blog. You'll laugh. You'll cry. It'll become a part of you. Should be up in about a week or two.

Cuisine

Tonight's food prep is garlic and mint stuffed lamb roast with a side dish of mango and hearts of palm salad with lime vinaigrette. Preparing this stuff is starting to seem simple to me. I've figured out how to find things in the grocery store without looking like an idiot. I approach the store employee and tell them I can't find their - enter food I need - can they show me where it is please. Boston lettuce was today's item. If you want to make some money from an invention design a tool that allows you to peel an avocado without getting that green/ yellow guck all over your hands.

Deep

I had the best ski day of my life today on the hill. Skiing Whistler Mountain this year instead of just Blackcomb like last year. I actually enjoyed that effect where you're skiing along and you put your arm out and the inside hand skims along in the powder with you. At one point I had to hike up and out of a near vertical circumstance and take a more reasonable route down.

American Joke

A guy shared a joke with me this evening;

What were General Custer's last words?

'They were singing and dancing LAST night...'

True Grit

Good expletive movie. Spielberg produced, Coen brothers written and directed, starring Jeff Bridges. Holy expletive it keeps you interested.
One of my New Year's resolutions was to cut down on the profanity. It's being applied more effectively in print than elsewhere. My other resolution was to be aware of beauty around me every day. That one has been pretty easy to stick to. Some of today's beauty included with this post.

Cuisine

Crispy apricot pork cutlets with baby broccoli with orange sauce was tonight's kitchen challenge. I'm getting pretty good at the cooking stuff. Now have three cookbooks to draw from.
I was planning on skiing tomorrow but there hasn't been any snowfall in a while so the runs will be machine groomed instead of powder. I think I'll wait. You get a little spoiled for conditions when you live at the base of the mountain.

Day 5

I got to ski again today. The snow was very, very deep and light powder. I gave a little 'Oh, my, God,' at one point as I felt the powder coming up over my thighs. It's exhausting though. All that snow. You know? All that deep, fluffy, light powder can just be soooo tiring. Starting to get some legs for it finally.
